Requirements and steps for using gypsum saws
The requirements and steps for using gypsum saws are as follows:
1. Only trained personnel are allowed to use gypsum saws.
2. If sharp serrations are used, the heating of blunt serrations will accelerate.
3. Rotating blades. Due to the fact that vibration is generated by hard materials, serrations may generate heat and cause tissue burns. By using sharp serrations or gently rotating the serrations each time they are cut, and continuing with the remaining part of the serrations, the heat generated by the serrations can be effectively reduced.
4. Handle with caution. Apply some pressure to the sawtooth and use the other hand or fingers on the same side to control the depth of the sawtooth
5. Bone protrusion. To prevent the surface of bony protrusions such as the medial and lateral malleolus, ulna and radius from being cut off
6. Fill in. Cut the filler and tubular bandage with blunt scissors. In order to facilitate the opening/removal of the plaster and reduce harm to the patient, it may be necessary to cut open both sides of the plaster. Carefully plan the positions of the openings on both sides for easy disassembly and reuse. After the initial fixation of the fracture, if there is a possibility of severe swelling, a plaster can be cut from the groove of the plaster cast. After removing the lining and tubular bandage under the plaster, fill the gaps in the plaster trough with soft cotton pads to prevent swelling (similar to window swelling), and then wrap the plaster with elastic bandages. When cutting open a semi-rigid gypsum pipe, the upper part of the gypsum can be separated from the skin by pressing both sides of the gypsum, as shown in the figure. This helps provide space for insertion without damaging the patient's skin and soft tissues.
7. Re fixation of gypsum pipe type. It is not a one-time complete cutting of the plaster, but a gradual cutting to avoid affecting the reduction of the fracture. Usually, a part of the plaster is cut open, wrapped with a bandage, and then further cut open and wrapped with a bandage. Provided segmented cutting and fixation techniques.
